The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has launched a 30-day campaign to clean the Sukhrali village pond and its surrounding areas. This initiative aims to conserve water bodies within the MC limits.

The campaign coincides with theWorld Wetlands Day on February 2, emphasizing this year’s theme of protecting wetlands for our common future. On the first day, various individuals, including the MCG’s brand ambassador for Swacch Bharat Mission and representatives from NGOs, participated in cleaning the pond’s surroundings.

The Sukhrali pond has recently been revived by the Micro Irrigation and Command Area Development Authority (MICADA) under the supervision of Finland’s Embassy, using funds from the Indo Nordic Water Forum (INWF). This project combined two modern technologies: OxTubes to increase dissolved oxygen in the water and enzymes to clean the water. The MCG is currently maintaining this project to keep the water body clean.

This initiative highlights the importance of wetland conservation and aims to raise public awareness about protecting natural resources in rapidly developing urban areas.
